Australian all-rounder Chris Rogers has admitted that he is the 'batsman under pressure' before the Boxing Day Ashes Test and said that he needs a ton as he approaches the Test match in which he feared he would never play a part.
Rogers and fellow 'veteran newcomer' George Bailey are the only batsmen in Australia's top seven who haven't reached triple figures in the team's dominant past month, with Rogers achieving two half-centuries in Australia's 3-0 rout of England.
According to News.com.au, Rogers said that although the pressure is a part and parcel of playing for Australia, he however, is one of the batsmen who have not got any hundred in the series as he has not been batting well, for which he added that he is under a little pressure.
Stating that there were a few things that technically did not go well for him, Rogers however, said that he hopes that his work with former Test great Justin Langer before the last Test would help him in the future matches, although he added that at the end, it all comes down to how a player scores.
But the report said that the self-effacing left-hander is under no immediate threat with selectors keeping the same squad with no additional batsmen for a match that, despite effectively being a dead rubber, will still spark Australia's competitive spirit after their summer drubbing in England.
