Manchester United star Wayne Rooney is reportedly close to signing a new 300,000 pounds-a-week contract to stay at the Old Trafford side until 2018.
The England striker is said to be ready to turn his back on interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid and commit himself to Old Trafford by putting pen to paper on a new deal.
According to the Mirror, negotiations between United and Rooney, whose 250,000 pounds-a week contract expires in 18 months' time, have taken place this month, with the player said to have been encouraged by the offer of a lucrative new deal.
United rejected two offers for Rooney from Chelsea last summer, the report added.
