Rooney omitted from Man U squad for Europa League opener

In what comes as a surprise move by Jose Mourinho, Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney has been dropped for the opening Europa League fixture against Feyenoord.

Besides Rooney, Jesse Lingard, Antonio Valencia, Henrikh Mkhitaryan have all been left out as well from the 20-man squad facing Feyenoord on Thursday.

Midfielder Jesse Lingard, who was withdrawn at half-time during United's 1-2 defeat against Manchester City, has also been excluded while defender Antonio Valencia is another name to have missed out from the list.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Memphis Depay have all got the nod in the United squad.
