Bollywood actor Salman Khan on Wednesday said he would handout cheques of Rs1.01 lakhs to the Indian athletes representing the nation at Rio Olympics.
The 50 year-old actor took to his twitter handle to make the announcement.
"As a gesture of appreciation for our Olympic athletes, I will present each one with a cheque of Rs1, 01, 000," Khan tweeted.
He said the government has been supportive of every sportsperson and hence in order to encourage sports in the nation he decided to make his contribution.
"I admire the work that Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) is doing to shape tomorrow's champions," he tweeted.
The Sultan actor is the goodwill ambassador of the Indian contingent for the Rio Olympics 2016.
