External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid is scheduled to pay a two-day visit to Sri Lanka from tomorrow, October 7, as part of bilateral talks.
Khurshid is expected to meet with the top leadership, including his Sri Lankan counterpart G.L. Peiris, with whom he is likely to discuss key issues including the anguish of jailed Indian fishermen.
This will be Khurshid's first visit to Sri Lanka as the External Affairs Minister of India, and the meet will be doubly significant as it comes immediately after elections in the Tamil-dominated Northern Province of Sri Lanka.
According to media reports, Khurshid will also call on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa during his visit to the country.
