Saudi man punishes son for not eating by burning foot

A Saudi man punished his son for refusing to eat by burning his foot with a hot iron rod.

In a video that has gone viral, the man is seen heating the bar with a hand while he pinned down the child, who's screaming for help, with the other. Later, two other men were seen holding the kid, who kept giggling, as the father burnt the boy's foot with the bar, Gulf News reported.

Hajar Ali Ebrahim Al Ateen, a family counsellor, said that the act was a criminal offence, and the men including the one who filmed the child's plight, were not worthy to be fathers. Meanwhile, several other activists including, Garam Allah Al Zahrani, a rights activist, too raised voice for the four men to be put on trial saying that what they "committed was a horrible crime."

According to the reports, Saudi Arabia had recorded 206 cases of violence against children in 2012, and the doctors and activists there have been constantly pushing for a legal action to protect children from domestic violence and bullying at school.
