'Saviour' Van Gaal admits even he will need time to make Man U 'champs material' again

Manchester United new boss Louis van Gaal has admitted that even he could struggle to make an impact in charge of the fallen Premier League giants despite being hailed as the club's saviour after signing a three-year deal to succeed sacked David Moyes.

Van Gaal has claimed that it has taken him time to succeed at his previous clubs, which include Bayern Munich, Ajax and Barcelona and is now demanding patience because he's convinced that the same thing could happen at Old Trafford.

Nonetheless, the Dutchman is still aiming to win the title in his first season and said that every club where he has been, he has struggled for the first three months and after that, the players know what he wants, how he is as a human being and also a manager because he is very direct, The Daily Star reported.

Van Gaal said that he says things as they are, so one has to adapt to that way of coaching, and added that it is not so easy.

The Dutchman said that when they survive the first three months, it would be the same as it was for him at Bayern. He said that in Bayern, after the first three months, they were sixth or seventh in the Bundesliga and they were third in their Champions League group.

Van Gaal also said that he does not agree that it would been harder to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson as he had to follow Bobby Robson at Barcelona, who had won three titles the previous season.
