Security in Karachi has direct impact on Pakistan's economy: General Bajwa

Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, has said that Karachi is the country's economic, adding security in the metropolitan has direct bearing on overall business climate and economic activity of the nation.

General Bajwa was speaking at the Corps Headquarters and Rangers HQ in Karachi yesterday where he received briefing about the operational preparedness and security situation in Sindh particularly the city of Karachi.

Overall accomplishments of the operation so far and the way forward remained the focus of briefing.

General Bajwa commended the Army, Rangers, Law Enforcement Agencies and Intelligence Agencies for noticeable improvement in the law and order situation.

The Army Chief emphasized that all efforts will be made to consolidate gains made so far during the operation and indiscriminately eliminate remnants of terrorists with their sleeper cells.

He particularly lauded support and sacrifices of the people of Karachi in this journey towards peace.

General Bajwa said the gains of operations will not be allowed to be reversed and the operations will continue till attainment of sustainable peace.

He directed a focused and synergised effort of all military and civil intelligence agencies for optimum effects to pre-empt potential threats to peace of Karachi.

He said that Pakistan Army will render all necessary assistance to provincial government for capacity building and training of LEAs for long-term effectiveness against organised crime and enduring peace for the city.

Earlier on his arrival at Corps Headquarters in Karachi, General Bajwa was received by Lt. Gen. Naveed Mukhtar, Corps Commander.
