Former Union Minister of State and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader D Napoleon on Sunday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after resigning from the DMK on Saturday.
He was formally inducted into the BJP in presence of the party president Amit Shah.
"I worked for party but party didn't respect me, even when I was Minister of State my hands were tied. That's why I have joined BJP," Napoleon said.
Earlier on Saturday, in a letter informing DMK leadership of his decision to quit the party, Napoleon expressed gratitude to Karunanidhi, Anbazhagan and MK Stalin for supporting him over the years.
Music director Gangai Amaran and actor-choreographer Gayathri Raghuram of the Tamil movie industry also reportedly joined BJP on Saturday.
