Senior Taliban commander killed in Afghanistan

The Taliban confirmed on Monday through a statement that one of its senior commanders had been killed in an air strike in Afghanistan's northern Kunduz province.

The Taliban said Mullah Abdul Salam Akhund was killed over the weekend by an unmanned aircraft.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed Akhund's death in a statement, reports the Dawn.
