Veteran Janata Dal (United) -JD (U)- leader Sharad Yadav on Tuesday hailed the 'Sanjhi Virasat Bachao' event asserting that aim is to bring unity among political parties (anti-National Democratic Alliance- NDA parties).

Speaking to ANI, Yadav said, "I'm proud that this meeting is heading from Delhi to Indore. The deputy leader of Congress Anand Sharma is arranging a meeting and I'm sure it will be a grand success. Leaders like D. Raja, Ali Anwar, Prakash Ambedkar, Sitaram Yechury and Dharmendra Yadav will all be attending it. Our aim is to bring unity among political parties."

Further speaking about the Sanjhi event, Yadav said we have been planning this programme from the past three months and hope to garner more and more people.

"We have been planning this programme from the past three months and how many people are going to attend it we still don't know- the list is yet to come. But, I'm sure we will have a large number during the meet. It is to bridge the gap between all political parties," he said.

Top leaders of the Congress, the Left, the Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and other parties opposed to the BJP attended the first programme in New Delhi which is being seen as Yadav's show of strength against his party chief Nitish Kumar's decision to ally with the BJP.

Earlier in Sunday, Sharad Yadav described how the Grand Alliance was stitched in Bihar, stating that the mandate was given by the people for five years against the BJP leadership.

"The Mahagathbandhan (alliance) was given a five-year mandate by the people of Bihar based on its policies, principles and the cumulative leadership that we presented. This was also a mandate against the BJP and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.

Lalu's mega rally ' BJP bhagao, Desh bachao' in Patna's Gandhi Maidan saw participation from Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Benerjee and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.

A lot of other senior leaders from other parties also shared the dais with the RJD supremo.
