Voicing its disapproval over India's bid to become a member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Pakistan has reportedly told the United States that it will not accept India as a permanent UNSC member.
The PM House said in a statement that Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed these reservations while speaking to U.S. President Barack Obama on the phone, the Dawn reported.
Sharif said that a permanent slot for India in the UN was not acceptable to Pakistan as India has failed to abide by any resolution passed by the UN aimed at assuring the right of self determination for the people of Kashmir.
Obama called Sharif in the evening to discuss issues of mutual interest including, those related to regional stability and peace for over half-an-hour, said the statement.
During his visit to India last month, Obama had backed India's bid for UN Security Council's membership, which is viewed by Pakistan as contempt of democracy and human rights.
