The Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Waqf Board on Tuesday decided to gift 10 silver arrows for the quiver of the 100-meter high Lord Ram statue.
Chairman, Waseem Rizvi, in a letter to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, said that it would be a matter of pride for all Indians and would help in putting the state on the world map.
"Sad that Ram statue construction is being opposed; it's a good step as Ayodhya is centre of Hindu heritage. No one opposed when Mayawati built her own statues, don't understand why is there issue over making Ram statue," Rizvi said.
"The Nawabs of this region always respected the temples in Ayodhya. Even the land for Hanuman Garhi in central Ayodhya was donated by Nawab Shuja-ud-Daulah in 1739, while the funds to construct the Hanuman Garhi temple were provided by Nawab Asif-ud-Daullah, between 1775 and 1793," he added.
This initiation comes days after All India Muslim Personal Law Board members Zafaryab Jilani and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi criticised the UP government's proposal on building the statue.
