National Conference chief and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah on Monday accused the Shiv Sena of trying to break India.

"It's very unfortunate that they are trying to break India. There is threat to the nation's integrity. This ruins the image of the country and they should think that the country is above them," Abdullah told ANI.

"I would request Modi ji to give warning to those sitting in power in Mumbai. The game (cricket) is different from politics and we have to play with every country. I would request them not to do this. Government should take strict action against it," he added.

Activists of the Shiv Sena had earlier stormed into the offices of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to protest against a pre-scheduled meeting that was to take place between Pakistan Cricket Board chief Shahryar Khan and BCCI president Shashank Manohar on the modalities for the December 2015 India-Pakistan series.

The Shiv Sena activists blocked Manohar's path and said they would not allow any cricket ties with Pakistan.

The proposed meeting had to be cancelled as a result of the protest.
