Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar is reportedly eyeing a coaching career after he agreed to State Bank's offer to take charge of a top domestic team for the upcoming local season in Pakistan.

State Bank manager for the domestic team Zaheer-ul-Hassan said that the former paceman has agreed to become head coach of their team and they are very pleased that Akhtar has shown interest in coaching a domestic team.

According to The Dawn, Hassan said that contract papers are being prepared as Akhtar has confirmed his interest in coaching their domestic team.

Hassan said that once their board of governors approves the contract, Akhtar would certainly provide an image boost to their domestic cricket.

The domestic team bank manager also said that he felt the former paceman is preparing for a full-time coaching career and wants to start at the domestic level.

Akhtar, who was famous during his playing days for his raw pace, had even offered in the past to coach Pakistan's fast bowlers if the country's cricket board approached him, the report added.
