Jackie Evancho, the teenage classical singer who performed at Donald Trump's inauguration last month, is speaking out against President's plan to roll back protections for transgender students.
In a pair of tweets, Evancho, 16, who has a transgender sister, said she was "obviously disappointed" with the decision "to send the #transgender bathroom issue to the states to decide."
"U gave me the honor 2 sing at your inauguration," she wrote in a second tweet to her more than 82,000 followers. "Pls give me & my sis the honor 2 meet with you 2 talk #transgender rights."
The singer's older sister Juliet, 18, came out as transgender in 2015 in an interview with People Magazine.
As the New York Times reports, the Trump administration plans to reverse an Obama era order that allowed trans students to use the bathroom of the gender with which they identified.
