Singhvi blasts Pak for trying to internationalize Kashmir issue

Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Monday criticized Pakistan for writing a letter to the United Nations on the security situation along the LoC and the International Border with India, saying that the country is trying to internationalize issue.

Condemning Pakistan's action, Singhvi said that it seems that the country doesn't know history, and has no knowledge of diplomacy; it's a sad and unjustified letter.

"Pakistan never learns, Pakistan itself knows that when the whole country virtually pleaded with India, we signed the Shimla agreement where bilateralism and bilateral nature of dispute resolution was basic recorder, that is reiterated in hundreds of meetings, documents, treaties, etc between the two countries, whether it's any Government in India or Pakistan," said Sinhvi.

He also said that even though the Shimla Agreement clearly states there are two stakeholders, they are trying to internationalize the issue.

"Time and again in the United Nations recently Nawaz Sharif's speech and now by this letter, it seems they don't know the lessons of history, they don't learn the lessons of history and it shows desperation in Pakistan about the fact that the country is disintegrating, it's a sad and a completely unjustified letter," Singhvi added.

In a letter to UN chief Ban Ki-moon, Adviser to the Pakistan Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz had accused India of "deliberate and unprovoked violations of the ceasefire agreement and cross-border firing" over the past weeks.
