In order to augment the capacity of states in the domain of investigation of heinous crimes against women, the Ministry of Home Affairs has proposed that the states/UTs should set up Investigative Units for Crime against Women (IUCAW) in most crime prone districts of each state on a 50
Since police is a state subject under Constitution of India, all states/UTs including Madhya Pradesh, have been given the liberty to choose appropriate location for setting up of IUCAW within their state.
No specific location in any state has been earmarked by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary in a written reply to a question by Prabhat Jha in the Rajya Sabha today.
