Skill development programme launched in Tripura

Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar launched a skill development program to train as many as 1,465 youths.

Addressing a function, Sarkar said, "We have decided that the door will be open for government jobs and recruitment will continue but those whom we fail to give joy or may be are not running behind government job for them we asked for skill development so that the person learn something which along with little government help he can earn a livelihood.. This has been the thought of the government and today it is being formally launched but it started two years back."

"Tripura is a pioneer in skill development mission in the country. It has been functioning since September, 2010, under the industries department. But after announcement of Skill India Mission, the state government set up a separate directorate," he added.

Sarkar viewed that in Tripura skill development is just not limited for getting employment in the industrial sector but initiatives has also been take and with equal importance for skill development among those associated with the agriculture and allied sector so that they can not only get employment within the state but also help in increasing the productivity of the state.

"Our skill development is just not only for employment in the industries, skill development is equally important for agricultural activities, fishery, animal husbandry or horticulture..for skill development we have selected 11 sectors according to necessity of our state so that they can get employment within our state," said Sarkar.

He alleged that the country is suffering from industrial recession for the last few years because of wrong policies of the government, which is safeguarding the interests of corporates and industrialists.

He further added that the Centre is ensuring tax subsidy and tax holidays for a few rich individuals and business magnets, compromising the interests of common Indians, for achieving political goals.

Sarkar alleged that the BJP-led central government's attitude towards the rich is no different from the earlier Congress-led UPA government. Both appear to be soft towards corporates.
