South Korea to continue urging North Korea to follow up on the decisions taken in their recent agreements as part of the inter-Korean summit.

As reported by Yonhap news agency, South Korea will push for further high-level inter-Korean talks.

South Korea's unification ministry said that it will continue to urge North Korea to come out for talks to discuss follow-up measures to their recent summit agreements.

It further said that it will ensure that inter-Korean peace treaty also known as Panmunjom Declaration is implemented.

"The government reaffirms its commitment to implement the declaration and also urges the North to respond to the (proposed) high-level talks," it added.

Acting as a blow to the improving inter-Korean relations, North Korea unilaterally canceled the agreed-upon high-level talks slated for the same day.

Yonhap reported that North Korea disapproved the on-going military drills between South Korea and the United States.

Later the South Korea's unification ministry called for economic inter-Korean cooperation when the necessary circumstances are created.

"We will continue to push for inter-Korean talks to implement the Panmunjom Declaration," the ministry said in a report submitted to lawmakers to detail its policy direction.
