The son of the Superintendent of Police (SP) who was killed in an encounter with the militants in Assam's Hamren District demanded a CBI probe into the death of his father here today.
"I demand a CBI inquiry. I want to know what happened to my father. How come 16 people survived and only two people, including my father were killed," he said.
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that the culprits will be punished, and added that he did not mind a CBI probe into the matter.
Earlier today, Gogoi and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju visited Karbi Anglong in Assam to pay homage to the Superintendent of Police (SP) and the policeman killed in the encounter.
The senior police officer was leading a raid, involving three police parties, against the Karbi Peoples' Liberation Tigers (KPLT) militants late on Thursday.
