A Spanish tennis player has reportedly been banned for five years from the sport and fined 15, 300 pounds for three offences related to match fixing, which occurred in 2010.

Guillermo Olaso, ranked 236th in the world, was also punished for failing to report approaches to give information or influence any aspect of a match.

According to the BBC, the Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU) said that Olaso was found guilty of 'contriving or attempting to contrive the outcome or any other aspect of any event', adding that he is not eligible to participate in any tournament or competition organised or sanctioned by the governing bodies of professional tennis.

However, the report mentioned that Olaso would not have to serve the final 18 months of his ban if he has repaid the fine by that time and has attended anti-corruption and rehabilitation courses.
