A six-year-old female leopard was killed on Ramnagar-Haldwani highway after being hit by a speeding vehicle.
The forest department has filed a complaint against unknown people following the incident.
"The mishap took place at around 4.00 am, a six year old female leopard met with an accident on Ramnagar - Haldwani road. It appears that the leopard was hit by a vehicle while it was crossing the road. Forest officials reached the spot as soon they got the information," said BS Shahi, a forest officer.
"We have brought the body of the leopard for post mortem. A case has been registered against the unknown," he added.
