Reacting to the abduction of four officials in Giridih district of Jharkhand, Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh on Monday said that the he had spoken to the Chief Secretary and the DGP of the state and they had assured him that they will do their best on the matter.
"I have spoken to the Chief Secretary and the DGP of Jharkhand and they assured me that they are on top of the matter," said Jairam.
"They are making efforts to get the officials released. I think it is most unfortunate as these people were working for the benefit of the people," he said.
Suspected Maoists abducted five persons in Giridih district of the state but later released the driver of their vehicle, Rajendra Yadav.
Three of the abducted officials are members of the Prime Minister Rural Development Fellowship programme.
