A painting competition cum-exhibition on dengue was organised in one of the schools in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad District where students displayed their views about the deadly disease and also the precautionary measures which need to be taken.

The exhibition was held at the Chitragupta Inter College, where students made some 445 paintings.

"We made some 445 paintings in our school and displayed them today. The students put forward their views on the deadly disease and tried to explain as to how we can protect ourselves from dengue and all the precautionary measures which need to be taken," one of the students told ANI.

"Every year painting exhibition is held in our school. But this time around, we thought to have the exhibition of dengue which is widely spread in the entire nation and has taken many lives. The students participated with great enthusiasm," one of the school teachers said.

"We have tried to create awareness among the people through these paintings about this deadly disease which can turn extremely dangerous if proper precautionary measures are not being taken," he added.

With growing cases of dengue and several deaths being reported from many parts of Uttar Pradesh, including state capital Lucknow, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav yesterday warned officials against any laxity.

More than 2,000 cases of dengue have been reported in the last one week and more than a dozen are reported to have died due to the vector disease.

Dengue is the fastest-growing mosquito-borne viral infection, and its impact today is 30 times greater than 50 years ago.

Symptoms typically begin three to fourteen days after infection. This may include a high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash.
