As many as thirteen students from Jammu and Kashmir brought laurels to the state by clearing the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination this year.
Vinay Kumar Langeh, one of the toppers from the state is an epitome of sheer hard work and determination.
It took him three attempts to clear the exam, but at the end Vinay's hard work paid off and he secured 477th position in the examination.
"I got interested in civil services while studying in college. I started preparing for it during the college years itself and I continued to work on it while doing my job. But then I realised that I need to devout full time to civil services. So, I left my job and started preparing for it full time," Vinay said.
Vinay is very passionate about serving his nation and calls his father his inspiration.
He reads newspaper everyday to enhance his general knowledge. Though he took coaching classes in a private institute, he firmly believes in self-study.
"Coaching is fine, but self study is very important. In coaching they will teach you but at the end of the day you have to study yourself. They can just give a guideline, a direction but self study is very important. I made notes for my optional subject, sociology. But my main focus was to do limited study and revise more. It was not like that I read multiple sources and do not remember them. Instead, my strategy was to read less and revise more," he added.
Vinay loves to watch movies and is a keen chess player. He loves to sing and is admired by his friends for his talent.
Vinay's friend said that the best quality about him is that he has been very disciplined and consistent in his studies.
"He has never got distracted from his target. He is self motivated and always motivates others. He has several other skills to keep him relaxed. He is like a one-man army and is very inspiring for others," his friend added.
Students of Jammu and Kashmir have been making the state proud by clearing several prestigious examinations in recent times.
Inspiring stories such as Vinay's will go a long way in boosting the morale of the state and inspiring many more youngsters.
