Banned FIFA president Sepp Blatter is all set to appeal against his eight-year suspension from all football-related activities.
Confirming the news, Blatter's US-based attorney Richard Cullen said that they would definitely appeal against the ban.
Blatter, along with his UEFA counterpart Michel Platini, have been serving an eight-year ban from all football-related activities over claims that the latter had received a ' disloyal payment ' of 1.35 million pounds from the outgoing president in 2011.
The confirmation to file an appeal came after the FIFA's ethics tribunal revealed the reason behind imposing the ban, thus clearing way for both Blatter and Platini to make an appeal.
According to Sport24, FIFA said that both officials were allowed to lodge an appeal with the FIFA Appeal Committee, adding that in case it was rejected then the duo could appeal further to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Platini's lawyer Thibaud d'Ales had earlier said that they had received the reason behind the ban and added that they would analyse them and would launch an appeal against the same.
Platini had also withdrawn his name from the race of becoming the next FIFA president, saying he is dedicating himself towards getting his name cleared from the controversy.
In addition to lengthy bans, Blatter and Platini were also fined 50,000 and 80,000 Swiss francs respectively.
