Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey has reportedly said that the Syrian offshoot of Al Qaeda, Khorasan, is plotting to attack the United States or its allies and may do it "very soon."
According to CBS News, Comey conceded that Al Nusra, the Syrian front of Al Qaeda which is now sheltering Khorasan, has experienced terrorists, bomb makers, killers, planners with an international eye, who can wage a global jihad.
He also conceded that about "a dozen" Americans are fighting in the Middle East and cannot be prevented from returning back to the homeland but added that they will be monitored "very carefully."
He also said that the intelligence community is better prepared, organized and equipped to tackle the threats posed by the terror outfits today than it was prior to 9/11 attack.
The U.S. has been carrying out air strikes targeting Khorasan in Syria for weeks now in an attempt to take on the terror group.
