Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday said that tax collection is a challenging task for Central Board of Excise & Customs(CBEC) as many segment of the society are unwilling to pay taxes.
Addressing an annual conference of Chief Commissioners and Director Generals of CBEC, Jaitley said, "Tax collection is a challenging task. There are many segments of the society which are uncomfortable in paying taxes. I am glad that CBEC has taken this initiative to interact with a large number of tax payers so that entire exercise is done in accordance with the law."
Speaking on the volatility of the market , Jaitley pointed global factors including poor economic data from China for the weakening of rupee.
"In last fortnight you had the devaluation trend and economic data from China which is creating ripples in the global market. Due to these factors Rupee has weakened and market has crashed,"he said.
