The American scientists have singled out 10 of the 18,000 new animals and plants that they discovered over the past year for their remarkable appearance and behaviour.
The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) took an initiate to enlist some craziest new species including a Cartwheeling Spider, a bird-like dinosaur and a fish that wriggles around on the sea floor to create a circular nesting site.
The International Institute for Species Exploration's international committee of taxonomists mentioned that among the all, a frog that gives birth to tadpoles and a wasp that uses dead ants to protect its nest were unusual because of their parenting practices.
The list entailed Feathered Dinosaur, Coral Plant, Cartwheeling Spider, The X-Phyla, Bone-house Wasp, Indonesian Frog, Walking Stick, Sea Slug, Bromeliad, and Pufferfish.
Dr. Quentin Wheeler, ESF president and founding director of the IISE, said that they just explored the astonishing origin, history, and diversity of life, but still there are 10 million species that await their discovery.
The list is compiled annually by Environmental Science and Forestry's International Institute for Species Exploration (IISE).
