People from all walks of life have been adversely affected by the incessant rains in India's commercial capital, including celebrities!
While weathermen believe this can be the worst rainfall since July 2005, people have been suggested by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis himself to stay indoors and come out only if necessary.
Showing the discomfort which almost every Mumbaikar is facing at the minute, Bollywood actress Lara Dutta Bhupathi shared a picture on social media, showing how she was putting her husband's towels to good use.
In a post on Twitter, Lara Dutta shared a picture, where Mahesh Bhupathi's Wimbledon, US Open, Australian Open and French Open towels were kept on the floor to check the flow of water.
"Putting our Wimbledon,US Open, Aus Open &French Open towels to good use!??@Maheshbhupathi #MumbaiRain.Stay safe & indoors if possible folks!", she tweeted.
However, her husband Bhupathi was quick to respond, saying, "Are u kidding me !!!! That's years of hard work."
Mumbai has come to a standstill, after rain gods once again showered their blessings upon the 'city of dreams', leaving Mumbaikars stranded in hours of traffic.
Earlier in the day, between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m., 297.6mm of rainfall was recorded in a mere span of nine hours, reaching a record high compared to any 24-hour rain in August in a decade.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that there would be no relief for the state in the coming hours, and heavy showers are expected to continue.
With the downpours coming at a time when the city is basking with festive fervour on account of Ganesh Chaturthi, various religious institutions such as the famous Siddhivinayak Temple and Gurdwaras (Sikh place of worship) extended assistance in the form of food and shelter to those stranded in the rains.
