Those who misinterpreted my statement should apologise: Kailash Vijayvargiya

Madhya Pradesh Cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Monday denied saying anything wrong about the death of journalist Akshay Singh and added that those who interpreted his statements wrongly should apologise.

"Don't behave with me like I am a criminal. I am a very brave person and if I had said something wrong I would have apologized to the Centre but I did not say anything wrong. Those who interpreted it wrongly should apologise," Vijayvargiya, who met Akshay Singh's grieving parents today, said.

The BJP leader further added that he would stay in touch with the parents of Akshay Singh.

"I am very sad due to this. It is very shocking for any parent to lose their child. They are unable to say anything now. I will meet them again and stay in touch with them," said

Vijayvargiya had come under fire for reportedly saying - "Is a journalist bigger than me?" while commenting over journalist Askhay Singh's death.

On Saturday, Akshay Singh, a journalist working for a leading Delhi-based news channel, suddenly took ill and died while interviewing parents of a girl who had been found dead near railway tracks, after her name figured in the Vyapam scam.

The incident took place in Meghnagar near Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua town.

The journalist was rushed to the civil hospital and later to a private hospital, but doctors failed to revive him. From there he was taken to another hospital in nearby Dahod in Gujarat, where he was declared brought dead.
