The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Monday urged the Supreme Court to take suo moto action and order an appropriate probe into the recent spate of deaths related to the Vyapam scam.
"We are deeply concerned about the series of deaths, including those of journalists, educationists and so many others. In these circumstances, we think it is appropriate that the Supreme Court takes suo moto action and orders an appropriate probe to be monitored by the Supreme Court. This is the only way that the truth will come out in the Vyapam scam." said TMC spokesperson Derek O'Brien.
In the last three days, three deaths have taken place in Madhya Pradesh, all in connection with the Vyapam Scam.
Akshay Singh, a TV journalist, died suddenly on Saturday when he had gone to interview the family of another deceased in the Vyapam Scam in Madhya Pradesh.
The 64-year-old dean of a medical college in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh was found dead on Sunday at a hotel in Delhi. He was supposed to head for Agartala from Delhi as part of an inspection team of the Medical Council of India.
On Monday morning, a trainee sub-inspector Anamika Kushwaha, recruited through Vyapam, allegedly committed suicide in the police academy.
The scam involved the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board or Vyapam, which holds the exams for positions like medical officers, constables, teachers and auditors for government departments.
The candidates allegedly bribed government officials to make it to the list of those who cleared the test.
