Finally it's out! The trailer of the much-anticipated film 'Thugs of Hindostan' promises jaw-dropping action, visual extravaganza and a larger than life cinematic experience.

The movie is set in the era of 1975 when the East India Company ruled over India. Giving them tough competition are a group of 'Thugs' led by the brave and ruthless warrior, Khudabaksh played by Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who is called 'Azaad' by his followers. His character is a rugged one, who is out to defeat the British at any cost. His loyal Zafira, played by Fatima Sana Sheikh, can also be seen performing some deadly stunts as she shoots down the enemy with her bow and arrow.

The duo, along with their followers, is battling it out on board ships sailing in the sea.

The 3.38 minute trailer boasts of spectacular visual effects, detailed costumes and extravagant sets.

Aamir Khan's character Firangi is the quirky one who appears to be a fun-loving vagabond. He is also a complex one, at a point in the trailer he seems to be conniving with the British, he later sides with Big B's character to fight colonizers. The trailer, however, closes with a climactic scene of the two fighting it out with each other.

The antagonist, John Clive, played by British actor Llyod Owen, is someone you should watch out for. The dark character will send chills through your spine with his demeanour as soon as you see him on screen.

Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif looks scintillating as performer Suraiyya. She dons a rustic look with thick kohl and loose curls, while her attire is mostly sensual as she is seen in a variety of lehenga-cholis. In the trailer, there is also a hint of her character having a love affair with Firangi (Aamir Khan).

The trailer has been launched on iconic Indian film director Yash Chopra's 86th birthday anniversary.

'Thugs of Hindostan' is based on Philip Meadows Taylor's 1839 novel 'Confessions of a Thug' and is about a gang who posed a serious challenge to the British Empire in India (then known as Hindustan or Hindostan) during the early 19th century.

The film which also stars Jackie Shroff, and Shashank Arora - is all set to hit the theatres on November 8.
