The Tibetan government in-exile today observed the 40th International Museum Day.
The Tibet Museum in Himachal Pradesh's Dharmasala organized an event to mark the day where president of the exile government Lobsang Sangay interacted with various Tibetan students.
Sangay attended the opening function as chief guest.
By observing the day, Tibetans tried to tell the world about the Tibet issue and situation inside Tibet.
Many people including young Tibetans attended the event today.
Tashi Phungstok, director of The Tibet Museum said, "We have been observing this day from last three years. So main objective to observe the day is to build a network with other museums around the world as well as to inform the people about Tibet's history and culture and what's going on inside Tibet."
This year more than 35,000 museums in 145 countries observed the International Museum Day.
President of Central Tibetan Administration, Dr. Lobsang Sangay said, "Tibet museum is one of the 35000 participants, it is officially listed as one of the participants so we regard the Museum Day as very important because the facts and truth about Tibet is displayed in the museum."
"There is a Chinese version, they have a huge museum which falls would send historically untrue narrative and what we want to have is a true narrative of Tibet's history and Tibetan political situation in Tibet now so hence we participate in the International Museum Day and through this museum day we try to create awareness among the international community and also the tourist and the people who come to Dharmashala," Sangay added.
The Tibet Museum will be observing the day till tomorrow by showing different documentary films about Tibet's issues.
The Museum also organizes mobile exhibitions at different time and places throughout the year.
