Twitter began its options trading on the stock on Friday which saw heavy volume on the first day itself.

The microblogging site went public last week with an opening price of 45.10 dollars each stock after and IPO of 26 dollars.

According to Fox News, more than 1,22,000 Twitter options contracts traded across all exchanges.

However, the site's share under the NYSE fell 1.6 percent to close at 43.98 dollars on the first day of options trading.

The 140-character status site hasn't seen profit in its six years of existence but its highly anticipated public debut has put the company at a valuation of around 24 billion dollars.
