Uber has suspended its ridesharing platform UberX in South Korea after ongoing disputes with the officials of the nation.

According to the Verge, Uber said that it was best to define their business offerings "within the current confines of the regulatory framework, without ambiguity".

South Korean government accused Uber of running an illegal taxi service due to this "ambiguity".

Uber has had to fight an uphill battle with South Korena officials ever since the app's launch in 2013 as the officials plan to build their own GPS-enabled taxi app.

The US company has responded by giving free rides for all Seoul residents in an attempt to sway public opinion in its favor.
