UK MPs have said that the existence of Asian grooming gangs, which are into sexual offenses against children and young white girls, need to be probed by authorities without being labeled 'racist'.
According to Sky News, there has been a rise of grooming gangs, which particularly include men of Asian and British-Asian ethnicity, targeting children and young white girls for sexual exploitation.
Home Affairs Select Committee has said that police, social workers and local authorities must acknowledge the existence of these gangs yet should not stereotype offenders.
According to the report, committee chairman Keith Vaz said that the children are being mistreated and abused by these gangs but it is catastrophic that the agencies appointed to protect the children are failing to resolve the issue fearing community reactions.
The committee report said that there is no simple link between race and sexual exploitation yet past evidences indicate towards a model of localized grooming of Pakistani-heritage men targeting young white girls.
In the past cases victims are internally trafficked within UK or taken to other towns on the purpose of being given or sold for sexual exploitation. The group of abusers is known to make contact with victims in a public place like a park and children are offered gifts like alcohol.
