The United Nations Human Rights Committee has reportedly come up with a report criticizing US on its surveillance program, drone use, and torture.
The report raised concerns over NSA's PRISM and UPSTREAM program and its massive collection of telephone records, which collect internet communications directly from companies and through the fiber-optic cables used to carry internet traffic, respectively, according to the Verge.
The report was also critical of the US' use of secret court to handle surveillance matters and stated that it did not allow affected persons to know the law with sufficient precision
It also noted the lack of transparency regarding the criteria for drone strikes, including the legal justification for specific attacks, and the lack of accountability for the loss of life resulting from such attacks.
The committee also criticized the US's response to allegations of unlawful killings and torture too, taking particular issue with "the limited number of investigations, prosecutions, and convictions.
