The Pentagon said that the US has begun airstrikes against Islamic State in Syria.
According to Sky News, Pentagon press spokesman Rear Admiral John Kirby confirmed the strikes were launched with Arab partner forces.
Kirby said in a statement that US military and partner nation forces are undertaking military action against ISIL terrorists in Syria using a mix of fighter, bomber and Tomahawk land attack missiles.
He added that the decision to conduct theses strikes was made earlier today by the US Central Command commander under authorisation granted him by the commander in chief.
However, he refrained from divulging more details.
