Days after reports claimed that 8 out of 10 convicted for attacking teenage activist, Malala Yousafzai, were freed only weeks after being jailed, the United States has reportedly urged Pakistan to ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said that the country was trying to get more information on the case and "will have probably more to say" when it gets that information, reported the Dawn.

The arrests took place in September last year.

Yousafzai, now 17, was shot in the head in October 2012 while returning from school on a bus in Swat valley.

She won Pakistan's first National Youth Peace Prize, 2013 Sakharov Prize and was awarded a Mirror Pride of Britain gong by David Beckham. She also became co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.
