Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and his sons Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash were recently felicitated at the coveted Global Music Awards under the gold medal category for their outstanding contribution to the global music industry and excellence in the classical music sphere.
Global Music Awards are prestigious and are increasingly recognized by industry insiders to give legitimacy to outstanding artists.
The top tier honour was bestowed on the trailblazing trio in correlation with their "Peace Worshipers" album which was released in July 2017 by Affetto Records and distributed by Naxos.
The award was presented by Mark Sutherland (Editor, Music Week UK) and Sat Bisla (President & Founder, A&R Worldwide) in the presence of other music industry executives.
Interestingly, they are the only Indian classical artists to win an honour at this platform , which brings global music partners and industry forerunners together to discuss and exchange ideas, trends and a range of other topics.
"Every award is an acknowledgment of an artist's musical journey. Though the journey is new everyday. Very honoured!" said Amjad Ali Khan
"It's a great honour for our genre of music. Peace worshippers has been a very speacial collaboration," said Amaan Ali Bangash
"This is a blessing for the album. I hope that the message of togetherness and unity is conveyed to the world though Peace Worshippers," he added.
"I am so glad that an album that hopes to spread the message of universal love has received this great medal," said Elmira Darbarova.
Winning a Gold Medal at the Global Music Awards is a huge accomplishment, which is communicated to 21,000+ professional musicians, bloggers, music managers, A&R representatives at record labels, and other music industry insiders.
Global Music Awards is the highest standard for original music, and the consideration is based on genuine merit.
