Refuting allegations of horse trading by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said if the allegations were true, he should have also received his "cut."
"Babulal Marandi is a gentleman, he has levelled allegations after a long time, and if the allegations are true then I should have received my cut too, I received nothing," he said.
Furthermore, former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat accused the BJP of being the most corrupt political party.
"BJP is an expert in horse-trading. Had the court not stepped up, they would've targeted governments in Himachal, Delhi and other states too. Their morality is just eyewash. There is no party as corrupt as BJP," he said.
Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P) President Marandi on Friday reportedly met Governor Droupadi Murmu and handed over a memorandum demanding a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The demands were put forth after Marandi claimed that Rs 11 crore was paid to his party legislators in February 2015 by the BJP.
Even during the recently-conducted Karnataka assembly elections, the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) accused the BJP of horse-trading.
Fearing defection to the BJP, Congress and JD-S shifted their MLAs to Park Hyatt Hotel in Hyderabad from a Bengaluru resort.
