Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dr. M. Veerappa Moily will travel by metro today as part of a fuel conservation drive.
"Saving petrol is saving India's money. This is a sense of patriotism. The country can be energy-independent by energy conservation. I appeal to the other ministers also to do this," he told media here today.
Dr. Moily, who had made the promise last month, will take the metro from Race Course metro station residence and travel to the Central Secretariat station, which is near Shastri Bhawan, the seat of his ministry.
Dr. Moily had last month said that he all officials in his ministry will travel by public transport every Wednesday beginning on October 9 as part of a fuel conservation drive to save $5 billion in oil import bill.
