Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Monday sought answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the alleged illegitimate appointments made by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan with regards to the Vyapam scam.

"The Vyapam scam that has taken place in Madhya Pradesh has become a matter of huge debate and discussion not only nationally but globally as well. Thousands of youth have been betrayed, bribes have been taken from them in return for appointment to various posts," he told the media here.

Singh highlighted the 'teachers' recruitment scam' in Haryana to target Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in connection with the Vyapam scam.

"Om Prakash Chautala had appointed 332 new teachers illegitimately and he had to go to jail. However, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who has claimed in the legislative assembly that 1000 illegitimate recruitments have taken place under him, is still not in jail. We seek answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he said.

The Supreme Court today allowed the SIT and Special Task Force of the Madhya Pradesh Police to file chargesheets in the Vyapam scam till the matters are transferred to the CBI.

The CBI had on July 16 approached the apex court with the plea, saying that transfer of more than 185 Vyapam scam cases from SIT to CBI will take time and the state investigating agencies be allowed to file chargesheets in the cases in which the probe is complete.

The apex court had on July 9 ordered transfer of the probe into all Vyapam scam cases and the deaths allegedly linked to it to the CBI.
