Attempting to defend the BJP-led government in the state which is under sharp criticism following the mysterious deaths linked with the Vyapam scam, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said the SIT probing this case is working under the Madhya Pradesh High Court's supervision.

"All the cases related to Vyapam are being investigated by the SIT. The SIT is not working under the Madhya Pradesh Government, but under the High Court's supervision. The SIT is investigating the scam under the supervision of the High Court," said Singh.

"If the High Court and Supreme Court think that the SIT is not able to investigate the matter, then the Madhya Pradesh Government is ready for the CBI investigation. As the Home Minister, I will accept the CBI investigation," he added.

The Home Minister further urged the opposition not to make an issue out of a non-issue.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has agreed to hear a petition against Madhya Pradesh Governor Ram Naresh Yadav to ensure a fair inquiry into the Vyapam scam.

The matter is scheduled to be heard on July 9.

The Vyapam scam involved the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board or Vyapam, which holds the exams for positions like medical officers, constables, teachers and auditors for government departments.

The candidates allegedly bribed government officials to make it to the list of those who cleared the test.
