Former Australian Test captain Steve Waugh has called for the improvement out of the current quality of umpiring and the Decision Review System (DRS), which has created much controversy in the ongoing Ashes series.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Waugh, who is on the publicity trail for his self-published book 'The Meaning of Luck' containing revealing insights into life after cricket, insisted that the DRS came into the spotlight because of poor umpiring, which led the players to lose confidence.

Stating that the system was not much of an issue before the Ashes, Waugh however, said that the players, the fans and the administrators are getting confused as even though the DRS is getting more decisions right than wrong, it does not always pick up all the edges.

But Waugh said that he believed that the system just needs some fine-tuning to sort it out.
