West Indies skipper Darren Sammy has declined to accept his cricket board's demand to agree financial terms if the players want to represent the country in the upcoming World T20.

West Indies cricket Board (WICB) chief executive Michael Muirhead insisted that the board is committed to play in the T20 pinnacle event, but added that it was necessary for the players to sign the contract, Sport24 reported.

Muirhead added that if the players declined to agree the contract, then the board would have no other option before them but to substitute the player with another.

Muirhead , who hopes that the players would sign the contract , insisted that the Caribbeans would receive half of any shirt sponsorship that the board negotiates in addition to their share of prize money.

Reacting on the issue, Sammy, who requested for urgent meeting before the deadline which is on Sunday, said that the contract was completely unacceptable and that the players would participate in World T20 as per the previous conditions.

Sammy revealed that the players were facing a pay cut of nearly 80 percent, adding that they had managed to earn only 21,000 dollars apiece this year as compared to 135 000 dollars last year.

The ICC World T20 is slated to be held between March 11 to April 3 in India.
