Women empowerment under skilled development programme in J-K

The women of Jammu and Kashmir are being encouraged to empower themselves through skilful activities, as the handicraft department under the Skill Development and Training Programme of Rajouri district has taken the initiative to empower these women.

Those girls who are drop out from schools and cannot afford the basic facility of education are being helped in order to fulfill their needs. Their families are living below poverty line and this initiative will help them take a stand in their lives.

The initiative is being taken by the Central Government.

Till now there are 23 employment centres till now in far-flung areas of Rajouri.

There are two types of training centres under the programme, elementary and advance. Those under the elementary centre are given Rs. 500 per month while the advance centre provides Rs. 700.

The staff members survey the area properly before opening a centre in any region and their minimum requirement is of 25 trainees.

These women through such programmes can improve their living standards and learn to be independent.
