The chief executive officer of the South African Cricketers Association (SACA) said that he would be very surprised if it turned out that any South African player was involved in match fixing.

This comes after former New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent reportedly identified 12 games around the world, including matches during the Champions League Twenty20 tournament in South Africa in 2012, that involved fixing.

According to Sport24, SACA chief executive Tony Irish said that he would be very surprised if it turned out that any South African is not 'clean' as none of the South African players involved in that tournament reported anything untoward to SACA or Cricket South Africa (CSA) or are under investigation.

Irish further said that CSA and the six franchises have anti-corruption codes in place and players are educated about the dangers of bookmakers' advances, adding that the best players participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) are paid millions per year in total cricket earnings and have secure contracts in South Africa.

Irish added that this fact should make South African cricketers less susceptible to the financial lure of corruption.
